Free Self-Closing Pattern Envelope Template
Make your own pattern envelope
After choosing a design for your pattern envelope, you will be able to download the PDF file in both A4 and Letter format.
The pattern envelope only takes up one page, so you can print it at home!
You can use regular copy paper, or slightly sturdier paper, for a sturdier pattern envelope.
Each envelope mentions the included pattern pieces for the specific patterns. There’s also space included to write your own notes, so you can see at a glance what you don’t want to forget about the pattern!
On the front of the pattern envelope, the pattern name is printed on the left side. On the right side, there’s space to write down the pattern size. So you can choose to bundle multiple sizes into one envelope, or you can use one envelope per size.
The finished envelope measures approximately:
- Width: 16.5 cm / 6.5 inches
- Height: 11.5 cm / 4.5 inches
To make your own self-closing pattern envelope, you will need the following materials:
- Pattern envelope template
- Pair of scissors
- Box cutter or similar
- Any type of glue
- Cutting mat (Optional)
Gather your materials and cut out the pattern envelope template along the outer line.
Use your box cutter to cut open the grey line at the bottom of the envelope and the half circle at the top of the envelope.
Fold over the top and bottom of the envelope, as well as the side tabs.
Fold along the outer edge of the purple line. This purple line will frame the picture on the finished pattern envelope.
Spread a small amount of glue on the folded tabs, up to the indicated grey line.
Fold up the bottom of the envelope, matching the sides with the tabs.
Fold the envelope closed and slide the half circle tab into the slit to “lock” the envelope.
That’s it! You now have a safe place to store and easily identify your patterns.
